"In grammar school they taught me that a frog turning into a prince was a fairy tale. In the university they taught me that a frog turning into a prince was a fact!" -Ron Carlson
I was going to blog about all the ash and smoke we spent the day in yesterday at Disney's CA Adventure in Anaheim, but then we drove back home this morning and ran into even thicker smoke in North County. Hmm. So we turned on the radio and found out that practically the entire county is currently engulfed in flames. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating, but hey, it's jumped two freeways just since we've been home and burned 100,000 acres since yesterday. Good thing we left L.A. when we did this morning, otherwise we might've had trouble getting home. Fortunately our house isn't in any danger, but the sky is orange and we're getting plenty of ash. Thought we'd left that behind in Anaheim. It was just this side of unpleasant yesterday, not enough to ruin the day, and in fact all the smoke kept the heat down, but after sunset the (hot) wind picked up and started blowing ash around really strong so we beat a hasty retreat to the hotel. All in all it was a fun day. I probably ingested far too much ash than is good for anyone, but I got to ride California Screamin' twice, so I'm happy. And I got my picture taken with Pluto and Minnie at breakfast today. While eating Mickey shaped waffles. Doesn't get more surreal than that.
