"In grammar school they taught me that a frog turning into a prince was a fairy tale. In the university they taught me that a frog turning into a prince was a fact!" -Ron Carlson
Ok, so I was at my Monday evening class tonight; Office Systems and Procedures, a little 2-unit, easy A filler class 'cos I need the units. It's basically to teach you how to be a secretary administrative assistant. Tonight we had to do two worksheets: one on vocabulary from chapter 1 (it gave the definitions, you had to fill in the term) and one on English usage using an abbreviation guide in the back of the textbook. The entire thing would have taken me 5 minutes or less... by myself. But we had to work in groups. And I got stuck with the two people in that class who don't speak English very well. So it took us 30 minutes to get through these 2 little dinky worksheets that a 3rd grader should have been able to do blindfolded. I had to explain every question about 20 times, then explain the answer, and why it was the correct answer, and even when I flat out told them the answer, they'd write the wrong thing down. I still don't think they understood a thing we did. But I was good. I was patient. I didn't get upset. Got to practice all the patience I got good at over the summer with all the dumb zoo visitors. But I sure as heck hope I don't have to work with them every week. Why do I get stuck with all the people who need extra help? It happened to me all through elementary, middle school, and the part of high school that I had to endure a public school for. I always ended up with the people who were a little slower than everyone else and I had to slow down and explain everything. Maybe 'cos I'm too nice to get mad directly at people. I just rant about it when I'm done. *sigh* That can't be good for my stress level.
