Basking in the Glow of Technology

I feel all techy now. When I type something on the laptop and want to transfer it upstairs to the desktop ('cos that's the only computer hooked up to the printer) I can save it on this spiffy little memory key thingy that pops into a USB port on the back of the laptob, then into a USB port on the desktop. Of course, technically speaking, that's the low-tech way of transferring data since our home network refuses to network. So the laptop doesn't speak to the desktop and vice versa. Once that's working then we won't need the memory key to get a file from downstairs to upstairs, but I rather like the little gadget. Makes me feel all Star Trekish with this little thing the size of a matchbox car, knowing it's got several Word documents on there. Star Trek or James Bond. Haven't decided which yet.
