"In grammar school they taught me that a frog turning into a prince was a fairy tale. In the university they taught me that a frog turning into a prince was a fact!" -Ron Carlson
I love TV, but sometimes it really ticks me off. Like when Farscape was cancelled, for example. So, last night, the History Channel ran their little special on comic books: 'Comic Book Superheroes Unmasked,' right? I had to work, so I had to record it. Well, there was another show I wanted to record at 10:30; right in the middle of the History Channel show, but luckily HC was rerunning the comic book show at 1 am. Fine, so I can record the later show, 'cos Lord knows I don't want to stay up till 3 in the morning watching TV. So, today I pop in the tape to watch the HC show, and lo and behold Cox decided they had to test the emergency broadcast system right then at the beginning of the show. Just a little quirk I have; I hate missing any of a show or movie or whatever. Even if it's only a few seconds, I like to see everything. I never leave the theater for a bathroom break when I go to the movies, I don't understand people who do. Whenever I record something, I set the VCR to start 2 minutes before the show's supposed to start and go till 2 minutes after it's supposed to end, just in case the network is 30 seconds off from my cable box. I. Don't. Like. To. Miss. Anything. So I was understandibly upset when the audio cut out and words started running across the top of the screen of this show I'd been looking forward to for weeks. The TV is very lucky I had nothing handy to throw at it.
So, $38.22 later, I'll have the show on DVD in a few weeks. Gotta love the Internet.
Oh, and just in case you're wondering (of all the 2 people that read this), yes I like my job. I get to carry a radio around. I feel all official now. And how many people can say they get paid to watch a Panda for 4 hours? (Ok, so officially I was watching the people, but they were behaving themselves.)
